About Us

Executive Summary

Community Impact Ventures (CIV) was established as a complementary organization to Someone Else’s Child Foundation. It is a venture capital impact fund that provides financial support to social entrepreneurs and for-profit companies that have missions similar to that of Someone Else’s Child (SEC). CIV invests in early-stage firms creating meaningful social impact. Led by a team with more than 60 years of private equity investing, M&A, startup, and consulting experience, CIV aims to help create meaningful social change while attaining competitive investment returns. We work with innovative entrepreneurs that share our vision of supporting underrepresented children, teens, and young adults.

The initial capital commitment for CIV has been provided by the founders; the fund is also open to outside investors and limited partners.

SEC was established in 1997 by Michael and Diane Christian based on the premise that we all have an obligation to provide for our community’s children. They may be viewed as someone else’s child but they should not be someone else’s problem.

Someone Else’s Child is a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation that supports children causes throughout the U.S. and in Africa. Areas of concentration include education (technology), literacy, nutrition and health, mentoring, economic justice, social enterprises, children living with disabilities, and other challenges facing children, teens, and young adults. SEC looks to break the cycle of inequality through innovative approaches that offer meaningful opportunities for vulnerable children.
